Solar Fortún – Mourvèdre 2018
Our Mourvèdre 2018 was recognized as the best Mexican red wine made from Mourvèdre grapes by the Guía Catadores del Vino Mexicano 2022, authored by Rodolfo Gerschman.
The wine received a score of 93 points, placing it first in its category.
“In Mexico we have chosen its French name, Mourvèdre, although it could also be called Monastrell, as in Spain. This Mediterranean grape variety has found a welcoming home in the Valle de Guadalupe and has spread rapidly. Solar Fortún’s version is the best of the year: deep cherry red with ruby highlights, elegant aromas of raspberry, cassis, fine woodwork, licorice, and smoke. On the palate, it avoids over-ripeness; its tannins are firm yet sweet and silky, and its medium acidity supports its power.”
